The Not-So Dark Continent

Nowadays you don’t even have to leave SeaTac airport to visit Africa. Note to self: pick up “provisions” before exiting main terminal.

Menu items include authentic bush favorites such as the “Zulu Pulled Pork Platter” and “Congo Burger”. Shabby-chic faux rusted corrugated tin ceilings, rustic wood beams, zebra print chair backs and colonial-esque ceiling fans round out the look. It’s anyone’s guess just which part of the African continent is being recreated here, but the overall effect is something vaguely “African-y”.

  1. When you bring me back my souvenir from Cameroon, now I know where my “Africany” gift can be returned for credit or refund…

    Perhaps Kenya, specifically Panari Hotel?

  3. @E-Nyce, that hotel takes Africa kitsch to a new level. Thanks for introducing me to a great blog, kikuyumoja.com. Is it yours?
